Excelsa coffee grows almost entirely in Southeast Asia (Vietnam) and has a shape that is slightly similar to Liberica beans - an oblong shape. These coffee beans grow on large coffee trees that are 20 to 30 feet tall at an average altitude.

In terms of taste, Excelsa is quite unique. It combines light roasting notes like tart and fruity flavors with more reminiscent flavors of dark roasting. They are also lighter in aroma and caffeine - while still maintaining an unusual depth of flavor. Sometimes you can find these unusual Excelsa coffee beans in blends because they add complexity.
